For 184 years the Columbia County Fair has been entertaining and educating fairgoers about the importance of agriculture in the Columbia County community.

Always over Labor Day Weekend, you can find fairgoers strolling through the agricultural barns observing and interacting with animals, watching shows and learning about local agriculture from exhibitors and their displays.

The agricultural barns house over 250 animals exhibited across four species, many of which are exhibited in both the 4-H and Open Shows. The exhibitors, young and old, consisting of generations involved in the agriculture that has defined Columbia County.

The 4-H Youth Program has been a cornerstone of The Fair for many decades. 4H has provided more ways for the youth to be involved in agriculture not only at The Fair but all year round. It brings farm and non-farm youth together to work as a team on several projects promoting agriculture.

The Columbia County Agricultural Society looks forward to continuing to promote this vital industry in Columbia County. The Columbia County Agricultural Society strives to look for new ways to provide the youth of Columbia County with the stage needed to be able to enhance their knowledge, skills and passion of the agricultural industry and further foster the importance of the next generation of the agricultural industry.

We need your help!

The estimated cost to remove, build and equip this new educational structure is approximately $790,000. As a organization we have been planning for the past two years and can cover some of the cost for this new structure. How ever, we need community help to complete the project. The existing structure is approximately 100 years of age and in need of significant repair. The site currently hosts three separate barns of all different sizes and capacities, We plan to remove them and build a new 16,000 square foot structure that has a new and improved walk way for fairgoers along with a unique educational center.

The Educational Center will allow fairgoers the ability to learn about how the agricultural industry operates and what is required to produce today’s food. The repurposed grain silo will host TV monitors and seating for training and viewing informational sessions.

Where are we in the Process?

We have obtained the required quotes, plans and board approval to begin this capital project. We would like to break ground at the end of the 2026 fair, with a completion date in the spring of 2027. With an estimated cost of $790,000 dollars, we need to raise an additional $560,000 dollars over the next 12 months to meet our schedule.

Definitely the best county fair I have ever been to! The tree-lined grounds are lovely. A nice mix of attractions and exhibits with phenomenal entertainment; well worth the price of admission.
